The Lonely Buddha Pagoda experienced the devastation of war, but the Buddha’s golden body still stood tall and still when the pagoda burned down. During the war, all the people evacuated, but Buddha remained at peace at the temple. Therefore, in 1976, many youth volunteer groups and people came to the temple to do community service. Since then, the pagoda has been called Lonely Buddha, which means the Buddha meditates in the middle of a deserted field.
