Phật Tích pagoda, whose name is Van Phac Tu, is located on the southern slopes of Phat Tich Mountain, in Phat Tich Commune, Tien Du district, Bac Ninh province.

Phật Tích pagoda was built around the 7th – 10th centuries, under the reign of King Ly Thanh Tong, he expanded and built the pagoda on a large scale, becoming a great famous place and national pagoda of the Ly dynasty. In the 9th Xuong Phu year (1384) of the Tran dynasty, Phật Tích pagoda was the place to organize the Thai exam for students (PhD) to select talents for the country.

Today, the pagoda still preserves many ancient architectural works, art and sculptures, such as the statue of Amitabha Buddha, the statue of ten beasts carved in stone consisting of 5 pairs : horse, buffalo, elephant, pangolin horns, lions (these are two groups of stone sculptures, dating back to the Ly dynasty and recognized by the State of national treasures), dragon ponds; 36 stupas, the head statue of a bird playing music…

Phật Tích pagoda is ranked as a Special National Relic by the State in 2015. Every year, on the 4th day of the Vietnamese Lunar New Year, the temple opens a festival called “Audience of Peony flowers”, with ceremonies to pray for national peace and prosperity and organizes special folk cultural activities in the countryside of Kinh Bac – Bac Ninh.
